Runnymede Healthcare Centre's Intergenerational Program

Description: Kindergarten students from Swansea Public School spent an entire week (May 28-June 1) at Runnymede Healthcare Centre (RHC) as part of an innovative intergenerational program that provides social benefits to both children and the patients. The program has been ongoing at the hospital where the students visit one day per month during the school year. This was a special end-of-year visit that turned into a week-long appearance. The program is headed by Runnymede’s Activation Therapy department. The week-long program, “Kids in the Community,” integrated the kindergarten curriculum into its itinerary and featured a shared mealtime with patients every day. In addition, children played various sports activities, games, reading sessions, and even danced with the seniors at Runnymede Healthcare Centre. For more information on RHC, visit runnymedehc.ca
